utb gets new board of directors

UTB gets new Board of Directors: Some of the members of the newly inaugurated board.

The Minister of Tourism Wildlife and Antiquities, Hon Maria Mutagamba, inaugurated a new Board of Directors for Uganda Tourism Board for a 3 year term running May 2013 to May 2016.This was at a function held at the UTB offices at Plot 42,Windsor Crescent, Kololo on Wednesday 14th May 2013.

The new board is chaired by Mr. James Rwehabura Tumusiime, Managing Director of Fountain Publishers Ltd, Tour guide Publications and Igongo Cultural Center.

The board also consists:

Mr. Tom Davis Wasswa, Head of marketing and commercials at Civil Aviation Authority and a member on the previous Board. Mrs. Edith Kateme Kasajja, Head of production, Tourism Trade Development representing the National Planning Authority. Ms. Lilly Ajarova, Executive Director, Chimpanzee Wildlife Conservation Trust at Ngamba Island,representing the tourism sector. Mr.Ismail Ibrahim Ssekandi, Former Executive Director, Uganda Hotel Owners Association and owner of Rwizi Arch Group of Hotels, representing the Hotel Owners. Mr. Amos Masaba Wekesa, Managing Director, Budongo Eco Lodge, Primate Lodge Kibale, Simba Safaris in Queen Elizabeth National Park and Great Lakes Safaris. He represents the Tour Operators.

Mr. Roger Wamara, Sales Manager Qatar Airways Uganda, representing the Board of Airlines. Dr. Andrew Gunga Seguya, Executive Director, Uganda Wildlife Authority. Mr. Aliyo Barnabas Micheal, Senior Economist, Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, representing the Ministry. Mr. Vivian Lyazi, Principal Tourism Officer/PRO Ministry of Tourism Wildlife and Antiquities, representing the Ministry and Mr. Cuthbert Baguma Balinda, Executive Director, Uganda Tourism Board, as the secretary to the Board.

The term of office for the previous Board of Directors chaired by Mr. William Byaruhanga, ended in December, 2011. Their contribution to the growth of the tourism sector and Uganda Tourism Board was enormous and remarkable.
